Frequently Asked Questions

During a consultation you will be asked a series of questions, including identifying what issues you wish to address in therapy, if you have been in therapy previously and if so, how long ago and what led to your previous treatment ending. You will be given an opportunity to also ask whatever questions you have in order to feel comfortable with scheduling your first appointment. You will also be educated on what therapy forms will be utilized, how therapy sessions will be conducted throughout the duration of your treatment and how billing will be conducted. Initial intake sessions are 60 minutes. Every follow-up session thereafter will be approximately 45 minutes but could be longer depending on your particular need and our progress during the session. Confidentiality is a paramount in therapy, not only is it listed in the Social Work code of ethics, it is also a requirement to follow HIPAA protocol. However, when in therapy it is also an obligation of your provider to report to the proper authorities when you are a danger to yourself or others. As an LCSW, I am also a court mandated reporter which requires me to report any reported child or elder abuse/neglect. For additional questions, fill out our contact form.
